2012 Junior Resident Artists Announced

By in News on March 25, 2012

Popopstudios International Center for the Visual Arts and our co-sponsors, The D’Aguiliar Art Foundation and Antonius Roberts, congratulate Veronica Dorsett, Steven Schmid and Yutavia George for being selected for the 2012 Popopstudios Junior Residency Prize, and Christina Darville for being selected for the 2012 Antonius Roberts Award.

Further information will be available from Popopstudios in the coming weeks.

For three months the junior resident artists will share a studio at Popopstudios, where they will have the opportunity to explore their creativity, experimenting with various art forms as they develop their skills. They will also be able to interact with practicing Bahamian and international artists at Popopstudios.

Additionally, the junior resident artists will be escorted on learning trips. Last year and the year before, junior residents travelled to New York to visit galleries and museums. They also gained experience in sustainable art during an eco-art symposium led by Antonius Roberts at Schooner Bay.

This is the third year that Popopstudios is offering the program.
