By in Previous Exhibitions on July 20, 2010

First of its kind exhibition features a unique collection of photographs highlighting the personal visions of fine art photographers in The Bahamas.

The Art of Photography exhibition will be having its Opening Reception on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at the Gallery at Popopstudios Center for The Visual Arts in Chippingham. The reception starts at 6:00pm. The photography exhibition will be available for viewing through August 6, 2010.

In keeping with the vision of the Popopstudios Center for The Visual Arts, this collection of images, by photographers from throughout the Islands of The Bahamas, casts a fresh eye on the art of photography, using technologies that range from traditional photographic processes to digital capture and printing on exotic surfaces.

The Popopstudios Center for The Visual Arts invited artists to express their creative vision using a photographic process. The resulting show features work exclusively by photographers working in The Bahamas. With powerful images ranging from Roland Rose’s emotionally vibrant B/W images and Richard Hokemier’s captivating “Angel” to Ben Jamieson’s haunting image of a carnival lot at dusk, the Popopstudios Fine Art Photography exhibition demonstrates that the inspirational power of photography is ever increasing in The Bahamas.

Other photographic artists whose work will be on display include Sabrina Lightbourn, Patricia Vazquez, Dede Brown and Lyndah Wells.

The opening artist reception for the Art of Photography exhibition at Popopstudios is Thursday, July 22, from 6:00-9:00pm. The Popopstudios Center for The Visual Arts is located on Dunmore Avenue, 1/4 mile south of the Bahamas Humane Society, at the corner of Howard Street. Address: 26 Dunmore Street.
