Alexandra Conway Timchula received a Bachelor of Science degree in studio art from Skidmore College, majoring in woodcut, etching, lithography, and sculptural weaving.
She studied print making in Italy; and afterwards studied photography in New York at the International Center of Photography. Her work, in a variety of media, has been seen in gallery shows, at the Katonah Museum, and on the cover of the Architectural Record.
While living in New York, 1975-1990, she worked as an architectural photographer and in multiple exposure large format photography. Simultaneously, Timchula painted and drew in pastel large pieces on rolls of Arches paper using flowers as subject matter.
