Heino Schmid – “Landmine” (2012), coconut and nails, dimensions vary

Saturday, December 15, 2012
5:00pm – 8:00pm
The Liquid Courage Gallery
19 Patton Street, Palmdale

Nine international artists working across media were asked to create work for a show in The Bahamas. The original brief asked for drawings that would fit into a suitcase, but many of their responses quickly grew beyond this limitation. With the migration of their work in mind, each artist made and selected work that responded to the challenge of the journey and assembly.

The artists are all connected through study or work and their artistic conversation, though often quiet, has informed their selection. Bahamian artists Heino Schmid and Tessa Whitehead, will respond to the imported work within the space.

‘Assemble’ is Liquid Courage Gallery’s inaugural exhibition. Artist Tessa Whitehead is currently resident curator of the space.

The exhibition features the work of additional artists Charlie Billingham, Rose Davey, Claire Dorsett, Robert Phillips, Paulina Michnowska, Donal Moloney, Harriet Smith, Lisa Smithey, and Sarah Kate Wilson.

Exhibition continues to Jan 21, 2013. Hours are Mon to Sat, 10am to 6:30pm.
