Figure Drawing Classes with John Cox
This class focuses on direct observation drawing from the live human form. The nature of instruction is tailored to the individual participant.
The goal is to coordinate seeing, observing and responding to the human anatomy in real time. Past experience is only relevant in so much as it allows each individual to work within her/his own context. The classes are geared towards participants 18yrs or older.
Classes are offered on Thursday, from 6-9pm, or Saturday, from 10am-1pm. Easels, drawing boards and compressed charcoal are provided. Students must bring pads of paper (newsprint) as well as other drawing materials (including wet materials), if desired. Each class consists of a brief slide show, warm-up exercises, longer drawings and conversation/critique. The classes are offered in 4-week sessions. Each session is $300.00, payable at the first class. There is an 8-person capacity per class.
