Marinah Janello Wins Best Film Award

Marinah Janello, a young aspiring filmmaker of Bahamian and American heritage, won best film of Hampshire College at the five college film festival in Massachusetts for her film “Something is Lurking in the Water.”

Made in 2013, it is a film about ancient Yoruba goddesses specific to Brazilian and Cuban mythology rising from the crevices of the earth to help young girls in the Bahamas find lady love. The film was produced during Marinah’s residency at Popopstudios.
