Being an artist is not only about having a finished piece, a final product, something to exhibit. It is a fight. A necessity. A struggle to maintain a tight grip on a dream- to live it, to realize it. It is a process. It is about listening to an inner voice when the entire world is screaming at you. Finding the aesthetic in the mundane, life in the boring. It is about connecting. Disconnecting. Being mesmerized by the monotonous. Seeing beyond what is there- giving room to intuition. It is freedom.

Danny Sangra

danny-sangra
Danny Sangra is most recognised for his combinations of organic “growths” and geometric patterns, as in ‘The Hills are Dead’ limited edition print.

His love of doing large scale mural commissions and the fact that he uses spray paint has led Danny to be wrongly associated with the graffiti scene with which he has only very tenuous links. The work closest to his heart is in fashion collaborating with Katie Hillier on print designs for Marc by Marc Jacobs among other things.

Danny graduated from Central St Martins College London. He first came to wider public attention a few years ago when it seemed his murals were in shops everywhere. He is a brilliant graphic designer and since joining Scrawl Collective has become one of their busiest artists.
