The Flamingo Project 2013: A Behind-The-Scenes Look

Well, it’s been a mere 4 months since my last post on The Flamingo Project!  While the project was officially completed in September 2013, I’ve finally caught up and now wanted to share a behind-the-scenes look at our work, to explain how we went from the design plan on paper, to the painted aluminium birds, now complete and hanging in the airport.

While we worked, we documented the process using video and still images.  Below is the first of several videos, along with photographs of the first stages of the project.  Enjoy!

“After much deliberation, planning and organizing, which involved trips to Ardastra Gardens to visit and study the flamingos, finalizing the drawings of the overall layout, choosing paint colours, tweaking the designs for each flamingo template and so on, we were finally ready to begin the process of making the birds in early June.

Read the full story on her blog and there’s lots (LOTS) more pictures too
