US-based Artist Lavar Munroe in cooperation with Popopstudios presents:

“INVASION”

Opening Reception:
Wednesday, July 6, 2011
6:00pm to 9:00pm
At Popopstudios

Exhibition runs: June 29 – July 15 2011

The exhibition was inspired by the notion of “invasion” as it relates to human behavior in general. In the early stages of production, INVASION focused on man’s intrusion and disregard for species of lesser intelligence or defense.

As I continued working, my inspiration led to images more specific to the romanticized hero Christopher Columbus and his “discovery” of the new world. In part, the majority of works included in ‘Invasion’ deconstructs the 500-year-old myth which has gloried Christopher Columbus in the Bahamas. It is by no mistake that Invasion coincides with our Independence celebrations.

INVASION will be comprised of mixed media drawings, mixed media drawings and digital drawings and a new media installation which was collaborated with acclaimed African American Poet Dr. Ja A. Jahannes. All are welcome to join Munroe at the July 6th public opening at Popopstudios.
