Collaboration Summer 2012 Internship Program

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas and Popopstudios International Center for the Visual Arts have established a summer 2012 internship program for high school, college and graduate students who are interested in the visual arts and the careers in this field.

Interns will receive hands on experience working within a museum setting and art studio space. The internship program will create yet another facet of learning for young adults looking to gain experience in the arts, thus influencing future career decisions.

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas is committed to engaging the history of Bahamian Art and Visual culture and supporting contemporary movements and experimental contemporary art practice. The NAGB assists in defining the Bahamian art movement and supports the artistic community by expanding its audiences, helping to define its standards and practices and by broadening its impact.

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas has the following departments available for interns to apply – Mixed Media Gallery’s admission store, collection management, curatorial, education, library, media and public relations, membership and office management.

About Popopstudios International Center for The Visual Arts
Popopstudios International Center for The Visual Arts is an independent art studio and gallery dedicated to the preservation and advancement of alternative Bahamian visual culture. The goal is to educate, promote, expose and defend new and challenging developments in contemporary art in The Bahamas. Popopstudios exists to harbour both seasoned and developing artists interested in new media and mixed media processes, while projecting these efforts to a national and international audience.

Popopstudios is a non-profit organization committed to art education. Over the past two years Popop has launched a series of education initiatives focused on creating a greater awareness of contemporary art practices in the Bahamian community.
