“Brigidy Bram”, a film on the artwork and life of Bahamian artist Kendal Hanna, took an Honourable Mention award in the Short Film Category at the 2012 Bahamas International Film Festival.

Nine international artists working across media were asked to create work for a show in The Bahamas. ‘Assemble’ is Liquid Courage Gallery’s inaugural exhibition. Bahamian artists Heino Schmid and Tessa Whitehead, will respond to the imported work within the space.

“Love & Responsibility” will provide a powerful reference of Bahamian art for teachers and students locally while encouraging critical engagement with Bahamian art in order to present it to a regional and global conversation about culture. Most of all, however, the book will help others fall deeply in love with Bahamian art and culture.

Representatives of the Bahamian Project pay a courtesy call on Dr. Daniel Johnson, Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture. The Bahamian Project was created to document the character and preserve the legacy of the people who make up the soul and spirit of The Bahamas.

Very early this Sunday morning, the Popopstudios artists came together and (energized by coffee and donuts) cleaned up the Popop yard – with a little help from friends.

From the more realistic depictions of the human face by Max Taylor, Dede Brown and Matthew Wildgoose, to the fantastical imaginings of Stan Burnside, Jackson Petit and Dylan Rapillard, to the most abstract constructions by Kendal Hanna, Brent Malone and Joanne Behagg, and even artists from the U.S., Jamaica, Haiti, Africa and Canada, including renowned African- American artist and writer Romare Bearden, “Fix Ya Face!” provides a rich offering of artwork that both celebrates and subverts the universal human attribute.

As you drive or walk in Down Town Nassau, Bahamas take a moment to look at “I Can”.

Installed on Friday 16th November 2012 by our team of dedicated people, it proudly stands on the Pompeii Museum Wall.

Popopstudios art community warmly welcomes Bahamian multi-media artist, actor, and movie maker Tyler Johnston.
