Art Classes At Popop: Register By Dec. 31

Beginning in January of 2012, Popopstudios will be facilitating a series of select classes for children and adults.  Participants will work with and learn from professional artists about various disciplines, exploring two and three-dimensional art and design concepts. Adults will be given the option of choosing from multiple mediums while children’s classes will focus on art ‘in general’ and be geared towards FUN learning.

Adult Classes: Semester 1- January 9th-March 31st

The Art of Drawing
Instructor: John Cox
Time: Monday, 6pm-9pm
Price: $375.00

This class is designed to suit the needs of a variety of skill levels. It will focus on direct observation using the model as the prime subject. In addition it will depart from the traditional and explore possibilities of non-objective approaches to drawing. Participants will be dealt with based on their individual needs and abilities. This class will also include regular critiques of ongoing drawings to enhance members’ abilities to articulate strengths and weaknesses in their own work as well their colleagues.

Introduction to Woodworking for Women: Building Boxes
Instructor: Margot Bethel
Time: Saturday, 10am-1pm
Price: $375.00

This course is designed to give students the basic skills and knowledge to build boxes, cabinets and shelving that is durable and stable, using the box as a starting point.

Printmaking: A Beginner’s Look
Instructor: Holly Parotti
Time: Wednesday, 6pm-9pm
Price: $375.00

This course will concentrate on exploring and learning four of the fundamental processes in printmaking; drypoint, stencil cut silkscreen, linocut and embossing. The final project will be designed to create an edition of prints that combine at least two of the processes learned.

Sculpture: Revealing the Portrait
Instructor: Katrina Cartwright
Time: Tuesday, 6pm-9pm
Price: $375.00

This class is designed to introduce students to subtractive sculptural techniques while using the portrait as its focus. At the end of this course students will have produced a completed plaster sculpture using the techniques learned. In progress critiques will be held throughout the twelve-week period.

Children’s Classes: Semester 1- January 9th-March 31st

These classes will encourage children to explore a variety of disciplines and techniques throughout the semester. Each child will be given the opportunity to work at their own pace with assignments being tailored to suit their individual needs. Classes are divided into two categories:

Art Basics I
Age Group: 5-8
Instructor: Phoebe Luk
Time: Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30pm-5pm
Price: $375.00

In this class students will experiment with basic art forms and explore the fundamentals of art.

In this class students will experiment with both basic and complex art forms while exploring the fundamentals of art.

Cost and Outline of Services Offered

The cost per class for a twelve-week period is $375.00.

The following is an outline of what the fee per semester covers.
(1) 12 sessions at Popopstudios, 3 hours each (adults).
(2) 24 sessions at Popopstudios, 1 hour and 30 minutes each (children).
(3) Equipment, facilities and materials (children only).
(4) Instructor- Professional studio artist.
