BIFF/BVC Film Panel Discussion At Popop

The Bahamas International Film Festival and the Bahamas Video Cooperative will present a panel discussion with guest speaker Barry Baeres, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Popopstudios at 6:30pm, Free Of Charge.

About Barry Baeres: After studying law in Munich and working for BIS Mackintosh in London, Mr. Baeres founded Intertainment in 1993, a film financing and licensing company with offices in Los Angeles and Munich. From 1998 until 2006 he has been Chairman of the Managing Board responsible for the operational running of the business. In 1999 Mr. Baeres took the company public with a market capitalisation exceeding US$ 1.1 billion dollars.

Intertainment has acquired rights to over 200 motion pictures through licensing and co – financing deals, among them “Whole Nine Yards” with Bruce Willis, “Battlefield Earth” with John Travolta, “Twisted” with Samuel Jackson, “Art of War” with Wesley Snipes. In the U.S. the company entered into exclusive distribution deals with three U.S. Majors, Warner Brothers, Fox and Paramount for theatrical, video and tv distribution.

In 2006 Mr. Baeres sold his stake in Intertainment after the company had won a long lasting lawsuit in 2004. Previously Mr. Baeres served as Director of Acquisition and Business Affairs for one of the largest German independent licensing companies.
