Master Artists of the Bahamas In Iowa

This project, initiated by the Waterloo Center for the Arts (WCA) in cooperation with filmmaker Karen Arthur and The National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, seeks to raise the profile of Bahamian art.

The “Master Artists of The Bahamas” Exhibit will run from October 14, 2011 through January 2012 at the WCA in Iowa.

Artist Profile: Richardo Barrett

Barrett will be showcasing new paintings and illustrations in a two-man exhibition entitled “Fallen Transitions” at Popopstudios International Center for the Visual Arts in Chippingham on Thursday, October 20, 2011 along with fellow Junior Artist-in-Residence June Collie.

Of this experience, Barrett states, “One of the things I valued was the fact that there was a community of artists and a dialogue that happened amongst us being there.”

Popop Artists Part of History-Making Exhibition

History is being made as the largest collection of Bahamian visual artists’ work to be displayed in the United States opens next week in Waterloo, Iowa. “Master Artists of The Bahamas”, an exhibition featuring over 40 pieces of artwork by eleven Bahamian artists, will coincide with a symposium, film series and educational public art installation project at The Waterloo Center for the Arts.
