2012 Popopstudios Junior Residency Prize (PJRP) winners – Steven Schmid, Veronica Dorsett and Yutavia George have just completed a three-month art residency at Popopstudios, where they communed with, and worked alongside, professional artists.

A Once-In-A-Lifetime Opportunity
Not many emerging artists at The College of The Bahamas get a chance to spend their summers just focusing on developing their work in a dynamic community of practicing contemporary artists, but this past summer at Popopstudios International Center for the Visual Arts four student artists flourished.

Popop Mural Design
Popop’s current resident artist, Chawne Paige, is leading a collaborative mural project on Popop’s grounds. The mural, located in the rear area of the main building, will be a permanent part of the campus.

ArtOvation with TaDa is a weekly one-hour radio show of one-on-one interviews with the brightest personalities in arts, entertainment and innovation! This Saturday Katrina Cartwright and Sonia Farmer will be featured.
Katrina Cartwright and Sonia Farmer are excited to be instructors in the upcoming semester at Popopstudios. Semester 3 will span a 12-week period being divided into two sections for the adult classes.

Deadline for Central Bank Art Competition Approaching
For almost 30 years the Annual Art Competition and Exhibition by the Central Bank of The Bahamas has been a venue for aspiring professional artists in high school and beyond to present their very best to the public, and now Curator of the Central Bank Art Gallery Curator Heino Schmid plans to raise the bar.
Popop Mural Project
Popop’s new resident artist, Chawne Paige, will be facilitating a collaborative mural project that will take place on Popop’s grounds over a period of approximately 2 weeks.
There will be a meeting at Popopstudios in the gallery on Monday, August 27th at 6:30pm for all interested persons.
