Popopstudios is currently offering an exciting opportunity to adults and children. It will be facilitating both adult and children’s classes, which allow individuals to work with artists in various disciplines while exploring two and three- dimensional design concepts.
Adults will be given the option of choosing from multiple mediums while children’s classes will focus on general art.
All participants must commit to a full twelve-week period where they will be given the opportunity to explore the material being used.

Adult Classes: Semester 2 – April 2 – June 23, 2012

The Art of Drawing
Instructor: John Cox
Time: Monday, 6pm-9pm
Price: $375.00
This class is designed to suit the needs of a variety of skill levels. It will focus on direct observation using the model as the prime subject. In addition it will depart from the traditional and explore possibilities of non-objective approaches to drawing. Participants will be dealt with based on their individual needs and abilities. This class will also include regular critiques of ongoing drawings to enhance members’ abilities to articulate strengths and weaknesses in their own work as well their colleagues.

Introduction to Woodworking for Women: Building Boxes
Instructor: Margot Bethel

This course is designed to give students the basic skills and knowledge to build boxes, cabinets and shelving that is durable and stable, using the box as a starting point.

Ink. Pressure. Paper: Intaglio In-depth
Instructor: Holly Parotti
Time: Wednesday, 6pm-9pm

The course will cover a basic introduction to etching processes and the intaglio (to cut in) printmaking technique. There will be practical demonstrations, workshop activity time and the opportunity for students to discuss their work with the course facilitator. This course offers participation at a practical level for absolute beginners but also provides comprehensive development for more experienced students.
Intaglio printmaking techniques learned will include etching, engraving, drypoint and aquatint.

Mixed Media Drawing: The Figure
Instructor: Heino Schmid
Time: Saturday, 10am-1pm

This class is geared primarily towards art educators and focuses on drawing the figure from observation. Painting and collage are also available alternatives to drawing. The goal of the class is to offer art educators an opportunity for peer discussion in a work based environment and will include informal discussions on the work being produced as well as more involved discussions on the role of the figure in art.

Textile Art: Getting Started
Instructor: Jan Elliott
Time: Wednesday, 10am-1pm
Price: $375.00
Discover techniques to alter and embellish fabrics. Try dyeing; using masks and stencils; block printing using your own unique blocks; image transfer; embroidery; needle felting; embellishing with beads, buttons, zippers etc. Create six small textile canvases using these techniques.

Children’s Classes: Semester 2 – April 2 – June 23, 2012
These classes will encourage children to explore a variety of disciplines and techniques throughout the semester. Each child will be given the opportunity to work at their own pace with assignments being tailored to suit their individual needs.
Art Basics I
Age Group: 5-8

Time: Tuesday and Thursday, 4:00pm-5:00pm

In this class students will experiment with basic art forms and explore the fundamentals of art.

Cost and Outline of Services Offered
The cost per class for a twelve-week period is $375.00.
The following is an outline of what the fee per semester covers.
(1) 12 sessions at Popopstudios, 3 hours each (adults).
(2) 24 sessions at Popopstudios, 1 hour and 30 minutes each (children).
(3) Equipment, facilities and materials (children only).
(4) Instructor- Professional studio artist.
