Summer interns Dalton and Michael, along with PJRP winner Keith, have been working on a mural, based on a painting by former PJRP winner, June Collie. The mural will be permanently installed in Popop’s kitchen.
Incentivizing Local Emerging Artists
It is a long upheld tradition in ‘the art world’ – that seemingly separate planet where for many it is baffling that one can take an unmade bed or a pile of bricks and call it art.
2016 Popop Junior Residents Keith Thompson, Nowé H. Harris-Smith & Navarro Newton, are off to NYC with Popop founder and Creative Director John Cox, Popop Curator Heino Schmid and artist Tessa Whitehead from the D’Aguilar Art Foundation, sponsors of the Popop Junior Residency Prize.
The Bahamian Project exhibition in May 2016 featured the work of five photographers and displayed more than twenty new portrait subjects.

The Bahamian Project, in collaboration with Popopstudios and the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, provides a permanent collection of photographs that brings recognition, fosters cultural awareness and creates a record of the people who make The Bahamas so unique.
