Since we opened our doors in 1999, Popopstudios has been dedicated to the preservation and advancement of alternative Bahamian visual culture. Today we are still blazing new paths.

We are officially a non-profit organization and our connection to the visual arts culture of The Bahamas is even deeper and our reach is global.

tessa-whitehead-popopstudios-04This year is the fourth year that Popopstudios has been selected to exhibit at Volta NY, a rigorously curated boutique event, showcasing the best in contemporary art from emerging international artists.

From March 2-6, more than 45,000 people are expected to attend the art fair to see artists represented by 100 galleries from around the world

Contemporary painter and sculptor Tessa Whitehead is our featured artist for this edition of Volta and we couldn’t be prouder.

Not only will Tessa’s groundbreaking solo show at a major international art fair be a first for Bahamian female artists, but also the mixed media work on display will offer a fresh perspective on contemporary art.
